US assistant secretary of state for South Asian Affairs Christina Rocca arrived in Kathmandu late Thursday on a three-day visit. Rocca will discuss bilateral issues during her visit, according to foreign
Ministry sources. She will also discuss security related issues with the Nepali officials apart from exchanging views on the existing state of Maoist insurgency in Nepal.
Rocca will hold meetings with Minister for Foreign Affairs Narendra Bikram Shah, foreign Secretary Madhu Raman Acharya and chief of army Staff Pyar Jung Thapa. She will also explore with Nepali officials how the problems emanating from the Maoist insurgency can be addressed.
Rocca will assess the overall impact of the Maoist terror on Nepal’s social and political sectors.
