RNA finds more Maoists’ bodies in Kalikot, Maoists torch 2 buses in Ilam

Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) has recovered the bodies of 16 Maoists killed in the Pili gun battle with Maoist rebels earlier this month. With this, 27 bodies of Maoists have been recovered.

According to a press statement issued by the RNA toda,y the bodies were found during a search operation in the surrounding area.

Earlier this month, over 40 security personnel were killed in overnight clashes at Pili of Kalikot district, a Maoist stronghold 600 km west of Kathmandu. The Maoists said it lost 26 of its rebels during the clashes there.

Meanwhile, Maoist rebels Friday afternoon-torched two passenger buses along the Mechi Highway in the eastern district of Ilam. Details were not given.

In Bardiya, a group of suspected Maoists Thursday midnight exploded a powerful pressure cooker bomb in the office of the District Development Committee at Gularia, district headquarters, reports said.

The explosion destroyed two rooms and furniture of the two-storey building while the Maoists looted some important documents from the office.
