The Ministry of General Administration has recommended to increase salary and other allowances of the civil servant as per the recommendation of a commission.

The Ministry recommended for the raise to the Prime Minister, Office of the Cabinet Secretariat and Finance Ministry as per the recommendation of the ‘National Pay Commission 2004 (2061 B.S.)’.

The state minister level meeting approved the recommendation of the Commission and made the recommendation for rise in salary and other allowances for civil servants.

The commission has decided that salary of the civil servants should be increased as per the change of living standards of the civil servant, international influence and salary of other competitive areas.

There has been no review in the salaries of civil servants since 2002. However, the joint aecretary of the ministry, Suresh Man Shrestha, said that the review as per the 2004 recommendation is not appropriate as compared to the increasing inflation.
