KATHMANDU: 23 people have died due to the outbreak of an unusual respiratory disease in remote districts of Bajura and Jajarkot.
According to the report, the disease has spread to seven VDCs of Bajura district killing six children and seven old people. “Experts with essential medicine have already been deployed in the area,” Bharat Bhandari, Acting Director at the Regional Health Service said, adding,” Extreme cold might have been the cause for the spread of the disease in the area.”
Likewise, disease with similar symptoms has spread in rural parts of Jajarkot district. The disease has already killed 10 people affecting hundreds of other people in the area.
Dr. Khagendra Gelal, chief at the District Public-Health said,” The district lacks proper medicine and experts to combat the disease.” He added, ”The disease is not identified yet.”
However, Shyam Adhikari, Chief at the Regional Medical Store, Nepalgunj denied knowledge of the spread of disease in the area. “Essential provisions will now be carried out to control the epidemic in the region,” he said.
