The government has begun intensive discussions for providing reservation to dalits, janjatis and women in civil service, a published report said Wednesday.

“A meeting of Administration Reform Committee Tuesday thoroughly discussed ways to provide reservation to the backward people in civil service,” Rajdhani daily reported.

In the concept paper presented during the third round of peace talks with the Maoists, the government had vowed special arrangements for dalits, janjatis and women.

To this effect, the government has formed a task force chaired by secretary at the Ministry of Local Administration Tirtharaj Sharma, the newspaper said.

“The task force will study present laws, regulations and will recommend necessary amendments,” the daily said.
