CPN-UML leader and former deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam said Sunday it’s all up to the Nepali people whether they want a republican set-up.
“We leaders may express our opinions for and against a republican state. But the final decision is in the hands of Nepali people,” Gautam said addressing the Kathmandu district convention of UML Sunday.
“If they want such arrangements, then the nation will have to become a republican state. If they don’t want so, then there is no room for such questions,” he said.
Speaking on the same occasion, UML leader Sahana Pradhan said the King’s advisers have been providing bad suggestions to the King. “This is one of the reason for the current deadlock,” she said.
Noteworthy, a central committee meeting of the UML on Saturday has decided that the party is in favour of forming a new Constitution through round table conference and an interim government. nepalnews.com mr Jan 11
