Relief materials are being sent to the 41 districts hit by floods and landslides that has claimed at least 257 lives since last Sunday, the Home Ministry said. Floods killed six more persons in Nawalparasi and Dhading, the Ministry said.
The Army, Police, the Nepal Red Cross Society have been sending relief materials, including tents, blankets and food packages to the districts, including Makwanpur which was worst hit.
The Roads Department re-opened the Hetauda Narayanghat section of the Mahendra Highway Wednesday at 4 PM after building a diversion and removing landslide debris along 50 meters of the Highway.
But Kathmandu is still cutoff with Tibet for the fourth day Wednesday as workers continue to clear the debris on the only highway linking Nepal with Tibet.
Japan has decided to provide 2,280 blankets and tents to some victims of the disaster, the Home Ministry said.
Diseases have broken at some camps treating people displaced by the floods and landslides, reports from districts said. Latest weather reports said the intensity of the monsoons waned Wednesday.
