Dhangadhi, June 19: Relief Assistance in the form of cash and food grains is being distributed to families of various Village Development committees affected by the flooding of the Seti and Kalanga rivers in Bajhang district since June 6 to 9.
Each affected family rendered homeless due to the floods in Malumela and Matela VDCs has been given cash assistance of Rs 2,500 and each person seven kilograms of rice grains from nepal food corporation, according to Chief District Officer of Bajhang Mathura Prasad Yadav.
The financial assistance was provided from the district natural calamities relief fund and the MPs’ constituency development fund.
The floodwaters from the swollen Seti river had swept 107 houses in Malumela and matela VDCs. The swollen seti also washed away hundreds of acres of land.
Relief assistance is also planned for the flood affected families in other VDCs of the district, Chief District Officer Yadav said.
Malumela, Matela, Luita, Rayal, Subeda and adjoining villages were badly affected by the flood, the loss running into thousands of rupees.
One hundred and fifty six families have been rendered homeless as a result of the flooding, it is learnt.
