Relief aid for former Kamaiyas

Dhangadhi, Jan. 1 : Blankets were distributed to the ex-Kamaiyas of Kanchanpur district as relief assistance by the Society for the Uplift of the Landless Squatters, Mohanpur (Kailali) and the Nepal National Social Welfare Association with the cooperation of the Netherlands Leprosy Relief Association (NLR), Dhangadhi on Sunday.

As part of the relief assistance, 64 blankets were distributed in Kichahi, 93 in Bandevi, 140 in Bani, 39 in Jhalari, 100 in Bhavarbhoj and 76 pieces in Mahendra nagar area.

On the occasion, each ex-Kamaiya family living in temporary shelters in these areas was given one blanket.

The N.L.R., Dhangadhi had provided 527 pieces of blankets worth approximately Rs 200,000 for distribution to the ex-Kamaiyas, according to the Society for the Uplift of the Landless Squatters, Dhangadhi.

Chief of the N.L.R. Dhangadhi Bhukh Lal Singh, Ashok Bikram Jairu of Nepal National Social Welfare Association and president of the Society for the Uplift of The Landless Squatters Chandra Saud distributed the blankets at the temporary shelters.
