The commission formed to probe atrocities committed by the dissolved royal commission for corruption control (RCCC) Tuesday summoned six persons including the chair of the then commission, Bhakta Bahadur Koirala.
The commission formed under the chairmanship of former Appellate Court judge Madhav Prasad Ojha has asked Koirala to present himself before the Commission on January 8 to record his statement on why he had taken illegal action against democratic leaders.

“We have found that the RCCC officials acted against the leaders illegally and improperly. That’s why they have been summoned,” reports quoted a member of the Commission, Ram Prasad Gaudel, as saying.

Member of the dissolved RCCC Prem Bahadur Khaati has been summoned on 7th January, while Hari Babu Chaudhary and Raghu Chandra Bahadur Singh are summoned on Friday.

Similarly, the commission has requested the Judicial Council to order appellate court judge Shambhu Bahadur Khadka to present himself before the commission on Thursday, as he had worked as RCCC’s secretary. Similarly, the commission has also summoned RCCC member Shambhu Khanal on Thursday.

Gaudel further said that if they fail to turn up, they will be arrested and grilled.

Meanwhile, the commission has quizzed the then executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Harish Chandra Shah with the charge of provoking the RCCC to initiate action against former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and others on alleged corruption in Melamchi Drinking Water Project.

Meanwhile, the commission members have condemned the government for not providing them with sufficient facilities, staff and vehicles. They said that had been affecting the activities of the commission.

The Ojha Commission’s term expires in three weeks.
