Incessant rain, flood and landslide have been affecting entire Nepal, but the worse impact is in the eastern region, various reports said Wednesday.
In the eastern region, thousands of houses have submerged and drinking-water scarcity is still continuing.
In Panchthar, Dhankuta and Udaypur, traffic movement has completely come to a halt. Bagmati river swept away 61 houses in Rautahat and 200 houses are under threat.
In Tanahu, five houses and a school building collapsed due to flood. A landslide buried a truck Na-2-Kha-5467 heading from Narayangadh to Pokhara.
Bus service in Dharan-Dhankuta highway had to be stopped as the flood in Leuti river took away a portion of the highway. More than 40 students of Trijuga College could not attend exams in Udaipur due to flood in the district.
Only on Wednesday, the Home Ministry confirmed that the death toll of flood and landslide was 24. Experts fear the government data may be far-too-low than the reality. nepalnews.com mr July 10
