PU identifies priorities

Biratnagar, May 20: The Purbanchal University (PU) has identified its present priorities and taken a decision to assist in the national development process as per the Purbanchal University Act 2050 B.S.

This was disclosed at a press meet called by the university recently.

A press release distributed on the occasion states the university is embarking on a plan to start m.b.a. Classes at the university from this academic year.

Likewise, the university has also taken a decision to establish working relations with other national and international universities and institutions and to work actively for enlisting support for the university in building its physical facilities.

The press release also states that the university is making efforts to achieve national level specialisation in such sectors as industrial research, management and business administration, food grains, tea, spices and dairy technology, agriculture forestry and herb cultivation, organic agriculture, sustainable development, ethnic diversity, bio diversity, indigenous skills and technology, environmental protection and land and resource management on the basis of the national needs and availability of means and resources. The university also aims to impart skill oriented training to science and vocational subject teachers from government schools, officials from industrial and business sectors, forest officials and the unemployed graduates under the “Rapid Course” programme.

On the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of the university Dhruba Narayan Lal, replying to journalists questions, said a small fund would be set up for the social and economic development of the university in order to make it self-reliant and to conduct research activities.

Newly-appointed registrar Prof Dr Krishna Prasad Sharma expressed the commitment for timely development of the university taking into consideration the greater national interests. He stressed that all sectors of the society should be responsible towards the nation and the society.
