Former Home Minister Dan Bahadur Shahi speaking to journalists …
Former home minister Dan Bahadur Shahi, who was expelled from his post in a reshuffle in the King’s cabinet last year, and forest and soil conversation minister in the previous government, Salim Miyan Ansari, were quizzed by the probe commission at its office in Harihar Bhawan.

Talking to reporters after the questioning, Shahi said that even as he supported the King’s rule he was not involved in suppressing the movement.

Likewise, Ansari said he was ready to face jail sentence if proven guilty by the commission.

The commission also questioned former Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police Rajendra Bahadur Singh and AIG of the Armed Police Force Roop Sagar Moktan in connection with atrocities committed during the people’s movement. Both were dismissed by the present government.

The commission has already grilled nearly a dozen functionaries of the royal regime including then vice-chairman of the government, Dr Tulsi Giri.
