Kathmandu, Aug.15: The Prithvi Highway will be re-opened to traffic by the weekend as workers tried to clear debris Tuesday at Krishnabhir where a huge landslide blocked the Highway linking the capital with the resort town of Pokhara, reports said.
Kathmandu has been cut-off from with Pokhara and central Nepal Terai districts since Friday. Two bulldozers were deployed to clear the debris across a 200 metres section of the highway Tuesday in clear weather conditions, Radio Nepal said. One driver was injured in the clearing operation.
The landslide cascaded down a hill 500 metres above the highway blocking traffic, reports said. Hundreds of vehicles and passengers have been stranded on both sides of Krishnabhir.
