King Gyanendra is in no mood to declare Prince Paras, his only son, heir apparent to the Nepali throne.
“I do not see any reason why I should come to any hasty decision right now. I will take a decision at the appropriate time,” the King told Editor of Rashtrabani Hari Lamsal in an interview.

Prince Paras has come under attack from a section of society for his involvement in two vehicular accidents leading in two deaths. Prince Paras is the first in the line of succession.
King Gyanendra has declared his wife Princess Komal Queen after ascending the throne on June 4 but has waited to declare Prince Paras Crown Prince. The new King has a son and daughter.
“The King’s property is national property. I do not see any reason to nationalize them,” the King said. Some communists have called for nationalization of King Birendra’s
property.
“After assuming the throne I have no business interests. They have been handed over. Those businesses have been paying tax,” the King said in reply to another question.
The King owned various business interests including Soaltee Hotel Pvt. Ltd. “I am committed to the first announcement that I made after accession that I will abide by the constitution. I am for relieving the problems of the people while remaining within the constitutional framework,” the King said.
