Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala was discharged from Martyr Gangalal National Heart Centre in Bansbari, Kathmandu, where he was admitted 10 days ago after respiratory complications, on Wednesday.

PM Koirala returned to his official residence at Baluwatar after being discharged from the hospital in the afternoon. Dr Madhu Ghimire, Koirala’s personal physician, said the 85-five year old Prime Minister was discharged from hospital after his health conditions returned to normal.
He told reporters at Baluwatar that the PM’s health condition had improved quicker than expected and that his health was satisfactory. Doctors at the hospital have advised Koirala to avoid rush in his work, Ghimire further said.
Koirala was admitted to the hospital on the night of July 02 after he complained of respiratory problem. Doctors attending him said he had pneumonia on the lower part of his right lung. Senior Indian chest specialist Dr JN Pande, who arrived in Kathmandu on July 03, had also examined Koirala’s health.
