KATHMANDU: Supreme Maoist Commander Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has reiterated his earlier stance of holding a joint meeting with all the political forces, the civil society and the United Nations in resolving the present crisis in the country. He added that his party was against the idea of choosing a new prime minister right now.

In a press statement issued on Monday, Prachanda denied reports that the Maoists are softening their stance and agreeing to a constituent assembly as the minimum condition said, “When we said we want a new constitution we meant we wanted an election to a constituent assembly.”

He also refuted claims that Maoists had embarked on a policy of ‘strategic offensive’ against the security forces.
