Talking to journalists after the meeting, the UML general secretary said the talks were ‘very fruitful’ for the upcoming summit talks between the SPA leaders and the rebel leadership.

Senior Maoist leader Dr. Babu Ram Bhattrai, who was accompanying chairman Prachanda during the talks, told journalists that the discussion was focused on effective implementation of the eight-point agreement and upcoming high level talks.

UML leaders Amrit Kumar Bohara and Jhalnath Khanal were also present at the meeting.

The ruling SPA and the Maoists had held the first high-level talks on June 16 at Prime Minister GP Koirala’s residence in Baluwatar.
