Maoist supremo Prachanda met with CPN (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal in Kathmandu Tuesday.

A source close to UML said that the one-hour meeting held at an undisclosed location focused on the recent 8-point agreement between the CPN (Maoist) and the seven-party alliance and the upcoming summit talks.

The meeting came a day after Prachanda gave direction for closure of ‘people’s courts’ operational around the country. The Maoist chairman had met with Nepal last week also. Nepal has been criticising the Maoists for operating their self-styled courts and forceful collection of donations.

Contradicting the Maoist demand, general secretary Nepal said at a program in Dhangadhi two days earlier that the interim government should be formed only after managing the Maoist army and weapons.
