KATHMANDU: In a statement issued a day after the appointment of the new prime minister, the supreme commander of the Maoists Prachanda said that the appointment “is a continuation of regression and a conspiracy against the country.”

Saying that the “dramatic move” has further complicated the national crisis, Prachanda added “the appointment was directed by foreign imperialists.”

According to various dailies on Friday, the statement was sent via e-mail.
