The government has plans to hold local elections in June and parliamentary elections in November, reports quoted Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, as saying Wednesday.
“We plan to hold polls for local bodies in June or July and after that parliamentary elections in November,” published reports quoted PM Thapa as saying in an interview to Time magazine recently.
The PM, so far, has not announced the polls date officially. He, however, has been reiterating that the polls would be held immediately after the government feels the security situation in the country has improved.
“We are not looking for any excuses to postpone (polls),” he added. The King, eight months ago, appointed Thapa as the PM amid stiff opposition from the five agitating parties.
