The Kathmandu District Police Office (KDPO), Hanumandhoka, summoned Abhusan Timalsina, inspector at the Durbar Marg Ward Police Office, and sought clarification in connection with the police’s failure to provide security to Bharat Keshar Singh, the president of the World Hindu Federation, and his two sons Ajay and Ananta.
Simha, also the former ambassador to the UK and honorary ADC of King Gyanendra and his two sons were beaten up by infuriated students of Amrit Science College when policemen were escorting them out of the Malla hotel to a waiting van at Lainchaur on Tuesday.
Reports quoted sources as saying that Timalsina is being interrogated over the delay in reaching the incident site, handcuffing Singh and his sons and failing to take the situation under control.
The incident occurred when Singh and his sons allegedly manhandled one Aang Dewa Sherpa after the latter’s motorcycle collided with Singh’s car near Thamel Chowk Tuesday evening.
The World Hindu Federation, in a statement on Wednesday, condemned the attack. It said it was an attack on the entire institution and demanded compensation to Singh’s family.
The federation has its affiliations in 49 countries across the globe.
