Police have arrested Krishna Hari Sainju, one of the key person behind the gruesome attack Sunday morning killing Inspector General of Police Krishna Mohan Shrestha, his wife Nudup Shrestha along with their body guard Surya Bahadur Regmi, Radio Nepal reported quoting security sources.
According to fresh reports, the police hunted for Sainju on the basis of the traces of blood that were found along the trial of the incident site. Sainju was arrested from a house where he was hiding.
The Police had first taken Sainju to the Patan hospital for treatment.
Sainju who was at the murder site to give signals to the assailants about the arrival of the IGP was shot on the leg during the shoot-out. After the removal of the bullet from his leg, Sainju was taken to the Birendra Police Hospital, the Valley police said.
The police are hopeful that further details of the murder would be known as the ring leader had already been arrested. According to the statement given by Sainju to the police, five armed assailants had fired at the IGP, his wife and the body guard.
Sainju told the police that the assailants had opened fire only after he had signaled them. In course of the firing Sainju was hit on the leg. The police have recovered some important documents from Sainju. The security forces have guessed that Sainju is the local commander of the terrorist ring in Bhaktapur district.
