Butwal, Jan. 29:The Nepal Petroleum Products Transport Entrepreneurs’ Federation has decided to indefinitely halt the transportation of petroleum products across the country from February 1.
This was stated at a press meet held here jointly Friday by the federation and the western region Tanker Entrepreneurs’ Association.
They have resorted to interruption of transportation services in response to the indifference shown by Nepal Oil Corporation towards their repeated demands for an increase in fares, according to a press statement released on the occasion.
It further says that tanker entrepreneurs have not increased their fares since 2052 B.S. In contrast to the 85 per cent rise in bus fares during this period.
The circumstances for the strike action have arisen as a result of price rises in diesel, lubricants, tyres and spare parts as well as the rise in bus fares since October 27, advisor of the federation Dhoplal Shrestha said.
The Tanker Association had written to the corporation on october 27 demanding an 80 per cent rise in tanker fares, the association says.
