Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa met with Pakistani President Parvez Musharraf and Bhutanese Prime Minister Gigme Y. Thinley in Islamabad on Saturday, the Rising Nepal said.
PM Thapa called on Pakistani President at the latter’s residence in Islamabad. PM Thapa conveyed the message of His Majesty the King for the success of the 12th SAARC Summit, the daily said.
On the bilateral issues, the two sides talked further on training provided by Pakistan to Nepal. In this regard, the meeting of the Joint Economic Commission will be held in the last week of February in Kathmandu, the daily said.
Later in the day, the Bhutanese PM called on Thapa, the daily said. “During their meeting, both of them agreed that a small incident like the one at the Khudunabari camp on December 22, must not derail the agreements made at the 15th Joint Ministerial Meeting.”
“PM Thapa suggested for a ministerial-level meeting to discuss bringing the repatriation process back to track,” the daily quoted Dr. Madan Kumar Bhattarai, Nepal’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, as saying.
After the Summit comes to an end, Ambassador-at-large Dr. Bhekh Bahadur Thapa will take the initiative for such a meeting, Dr. Bhattarai said.
