Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala met with general secretary of Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal on Thursday morning.
According to UML standing committee member Bharat Mohan Adhikary, Nepal and the PM discussed about calling the meeting of eight parties soon after reaching understanding with all the parties, and then, deciding the date of Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.
Nepal said discussions were also held on issues such as continued obstruction of parliament, republic motion moved by the Maoists, Terai situation, among others.
Nepal has been blaming PM Koirala for the impasse in the peace process and inability of the government to create conducive environment to hold CA elections on time.
Meanwhile, American ambassador James Moriarty also met with the PM on Thursday morning. At the meeting, the US envoy is learnt to have expressed his concern over the unbridled atrocities by the Maoist activists across the country. In reference to the recent incidents in Kailali and Kanchanpur, where Maoist activists manhandled civil servants, Moriarty is reported to have said that the US still cannot trust the Maoists though they are already in the government.
Reports say Moriarty – who recently returned from a trip to Washington – also blamed the Maoists for the delay in the start of second phase of PLA verification.
The American envoy is also learnt to have suggested the PM to decide on fresh date of CA soon by holding eight party meeting.
