Prime Minister Koirala expressed surprise over this during his meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Subash Chandra Nemwang on Sunday morning, according to reports.

“I was surprised after hearing the news. How can two political parties (and the Maoists) make such decision without finding consensus among all,” reports quoted Nemwang as saying.

Koirala further said that the interim parliament would not be the alternative for the parliament.

NC, UML and Maoists leaders, during an informal meeting on Friday, reached an understanding to form an interim parliament with representation of Maoists, after scrapping the incumbent parliament to go for the election of the constituent assembly.

Koirala asked Nemwang about the agreement, but Nemwang also expressed his ignorance about forming an interim parliament.

The high level talks between the ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists scheduled for July 21, will take some concrete decision in this regard.

Meanwhile, vice-president of NC Sushil Koirala and General Secretary Ram Chandra Poudel, who had participated in the informal talks, refuted the reports that they had agreed to such a decision.

Nemwang, who is also the chairperson of the parliamentary committee, discussed about the Prime Minister’s letter to the United Nations asking the global body to support Nepal’s peace process and arms management.
