Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said he was committed to establish peace and hold election to constituent assembly within time.

In an interaction with children in a programme in Kathmandu on Saturday, PM Koirala said he would continue to remain active in politics as long as health is okay.

Koirala said he was working for institutionalisation of democracy and make sure that people do not have to come to streets again demanding their rights and democracy.

The Prime Minister further said he had asked Maoists chairman Prachanda to trust his mission of establishing peace and democracy in Nepal.

Koirala, who heads the Nepali Congress, said he “never had a happy day even since I entered into politics”.

The unification of two congresses would be in near future of which, he said, the only living founding member of the Nepali Congress former Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai has been informed.

Answering the queries of participating children, the Prime Minister said the government was serious about ensuring that all children in the country have access to education.

Organised by Dharma Parishad, some 140 children from all over the country attended the programme.
