Doctors at the Martyr Gangalal National Heart Centre in Bansbari have advised Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, who was admitted there Tuesday morning following difficulty in respiration, to stay at the hospital for 10 to 14 days.

Koirala’s personal physician Dr Madhu Ghimire said at a press briefing at the Heart Centre this evening that Koirala’s heath is improving and he is now able to stand and has taken food. According to him, doctors have advised him to stay at the hospital for 10 to 14 days.

The PM has no heart-related complications, he informed. Koirala is suffering from pneumonia on the lower part of his lungs.

Meanwhile, senior Indian chest specialist Dr JN Pande arrived in Kathmandu this afternoon to examine Koirala’s health.

Koirala is currently under Dr Pande’s supervision but the latter is yet to speak about the PM’s latest health condition. Dr Ghimire said that Dr Pande was invited to Kathmandu as he is a senior chest specialist.

Details to follow.
