Indian envoy to Nepal Shiva Shankar Mukherjee held discussion with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala regarding the progress in the peace process and unification of Congress Tuesday morning.

During the meeting held at the official residence of the prime minister at Baluwatar, Mukherjee expressed the willingness to support the government for the peace process and economic development of the country, sources at Baluwatar said.

The PM briefed the Indian envoy on the latest developments in peace talks with the Maoists and preparation for summit talks expected to be held next week. They also discusssed the arms management of the Maoists.

They also discussed the unification between Nepali Congress and Nepali Congress (Democratic). Mukherjee pledge his support for the Congress unification before the election to the constituent assembly is held. Koirala had held discussion with NC founding member Krishna Prasad Bhattarai on Monday to seek his support for the unification.

The discussion that began at around 8:30 in the morning lasted for more than one hour.
