After almost a year of uncertainty, the universities finally seem to be getting their vice chancellors.
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, in his capacity as chancellor of the universities, has formed four separate recommendation committees – all headed by Education Minister Pradeep Nepal – to suggest VCs for four big universities.
As per the decision, the recommendation committee for Tribhuwan University (TU) has acting Education Secretary Balananda Poudel and Bhola Pokharel as members while that for Pokhara University has Poudel and former VC of TU Dr. Kamal Krishna Joshi.
The panel for Purbanchal University includes Poudel and Dr. Bimal Koirala while the one for Nepal Sanskrit University (NSU) has Poudel and finance secretary Bidyadhar Mallik.
According to reports, the committees are expected to forward their recommendations by Monday.
