Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala conferred with senior leaders of his party Nepali Congress (NC) at Baluwatar residence on Monday morning.
Party sources have said that the PM briefed his party leaders about his meeting with Maoist chairman Prachanda, which took place on Sunday.
At the meeting, Minister for Peace and Reconstruction and general secretary of NC Ram Chandra Poudel briefed about ongoing talks with the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NFIN).
The meeting with the central working committee members touched upon all the current political issues.
Meanwhile, the standing committee meeting of Unified Marxist Leninist (UML), on Monday morning, decided to ask the government to create conducive environment for Constituent Assembly elections in November.
According to UML standing committee member Jhal Nath Khanal, the party decided that the constitution should be amended as per the decision of the eight party leaders.
UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal briefed the meeting about the visit of UML delegation to India and what transpired during their meeting with Indian leadership.
The meeting of the two top parties of the eight party alliance – NC and UML – has come ahead of plans to approve the second amendment of interim constitution by the parliament.
