Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand has called a third all party meeting Sunday to discuss the delayed formation of a government negotiating team to pursue peace talks with the Maoists, Government Spokesman Ramesh Nath Pandey said Friday.

Four main opposition parties in the dissolved parliament boycotted two previous meetings. Peace talks have not taken off even after a breakthrough in announcing a ceasefire on January 29 to pursue talks.

The announcement of the third round of talks was made as rumors spread Friday that Chief Government Minister for Physical Planning Col. Narayan Singh Pun resigned. Chand’s move came as the cabinet met in impromptus session Friday morning.

Government has come under flak, even from the Maoists, for not naming a full-fledged negotiating team. The proposed goodwill talks between Col. Narayan Singh Pun, the only government negotiator announced so far, and Maoists have not been held.

PM Chand told a public meeting Friday in the capital the January ceasefire has given people relief. nepalnews.com br April 11
