Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today assured Janajati leaders that the government would deal with the issues raised by them.
During a meeting with the leaders of the Nepal Federation of the Indigenous Nationalities (NFIN) at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar Sunday morning, Koirala said he had taken seriously the demands put forward by the agitating groups including NFIN.
The team of Janajati leaders led by their chief negotiator Om Gurung asked Koirala to include the demands of NFIN in the second amendment of the interim constitution.
NFIN representatives are set to hold talks with the government talk team at the Peace and Reconstruction Ministry this afternoon.
NFIN called off its two-day strike after peace minister Ram Chandra Poudel, who is also the chief government negotiator, urged its leaders to sit for talks.
