Chairman of the State Council Standing committee Dr. Keshar Jung Rayamajhi handed over the holy Pipal tree (Ficus Religiosa) sapling from Maya Devi Temple in Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha to the representatives of various diplomatic mission to Nepal in a program on Saturday.
The holy Pipal sapling was grown up by tissue culture technology by Dr. Tirtha Bhadur Shrestha. biodiversity Consultant of IUCN Nepal.
The holy tree was presented to Ashok Kumar, the Deputy Chief of Mission of Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and to the Kazumi Suzuki Minister, Embassy of Japan on the occasion.
Likewise, Dr Rayamajhi offered the tree to the U. Nay Win, Ambassador of Myanmar and Powthep Vanachinda, Ambassador of Thailand in a program organized by Swabalambi Paribar Guthi in Kathmandu.
The speaker highlighted the value of the Pipal tree and also said that Lord Buddha was enlightened under the tree.
