The captain of a Yeti Airlines Twin Otter was injured Saturday morning while approaching Jumla airport, after hitting an eagle, aviation sources said.
The aircraft hit the bird at 11:35 am Saturday as the plane was approaching the airport, civil aviation authorities said. After hitting the eagle, the plane swerved and hit a hill. The cargo flight of Yeti Air flew from Surkhet carrying food items of Nepal Food Corporation.
The aircraft was damaged. The pilot Kush Bahadur Thapa sustained injuries. The other three crew –Ram Krishna Shrestha, Basanta Lama and Sushil Gautam are safe.
