Kathmandu, May 21: Deputy Prime Minister Ram Chandra Paudel has said it is only through small and medium scale projects that power can be generated quickly and at cheaper cost.
Mr Paudel, inaugurating the fifth general assembly meeting of the Lamjung Power Development Company here today, spoke of the need for the nation to pay attention to generating power at cheaper cost.
Agreements and understandings will also help generate electricity at cheaper price, he further said.
Observing that Nepal can immensely benefit from the vast water resources, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the Lamjung Power Development Company stands as a model for water resources development policy.
Minister of State for Water Resources Ram Bahadur Gurung remarked that His Majesty’s Government is firm to rope in foreign investment and mobilize internal resources for hydro-power development in the country.
CPN-ML leader Hiranyalal Shrestha demanded that His Majesty’s Government declare this year as a year of water resources development.
Company chairman Dikendraraj Kandel presided over.
