With the honeymoon period of the Chand government drawing to an end, political leaders have volleyed charges at the 22 member cabinet dubbing it as ‘inefficient’ and ‘unsuccessful’ to accomplish the mandated tasks.

The government formed on October 11 by King Gyanendra was entrusted with the responsibility of restoring the law and order situation in the country and holding the elections to the House of Representatives at the earliest possible.

It had also been instructed to control corruption, initiate action against the corrupt and maintain fiscal discipline. The major political parties the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) have maintained that the Chand government have been unsuccessful in carrying out the assigned tasks.

The parties have been voicing for the reinstatement of the parliament dissolved on May 22 by Sher Bahadur Deuba and the formation of an all party government under Article 128 of the Constitution.
