Part time teachers of TU demand permanent status

Tribhuvan University Part Time Teachers Association (PTTA), Central Committee has demanded the permanent recruitment of 1,900 temporary teachers to work as permanent teachers.

Addressing the interaction programme, Nanda Kishwor Singh, chairman of PTTA said that all the teachers have been demanding and organising various protest programmes for the permanent status.

“If the present government would not hear the demand within two months we would be compelled to sit for fast unto death protest,” said Singh.

Singh said that the government should try to find out justifiable solutions for those who have worked at least one year as a teacher in different campuses. “Under the umbrella of TU, 1900 part time teachers of 61 campuses were teaching on a temporary basis,” he informed.

Satrudhan Prasad Gupta, central member of Nepal Teachers Association (NTA) said that his Association would also initiate a needed help and support in making the part time teachers permanent.

Gupta said that with only the limited permanent teachers it would be impossible to run the campuses, so the government should hear the matter as soon as possible.

N. P Saud of Nepali Congress Democratic said that if the matter could not be solved, higher education sector would be affected for a long term.
Saut urged the government to give attention to the problem and hoped that the government would soon address the issue.

Manish Kumar Sunwar of Nepal Sadbhawana Aanandadevi said that although at the current situation his party was not in the government, but when his party would be in the government they would also raised their voice for part time teachers.

At a programme other party leaders of Nepal Workers- Peasant Party Prem Suwal, Lila Bahadur Thapa of People’s Front Nepal and Bhisma Raj Aangdangbe and Lokesh Thapa of NC Democratic have also lauded and shown their commitment for the permanency of the part time teachers.
