In separate resolutions, both the houses of parliament Wednesday condemned Tuesday terrorist attacks against government and business targets in Washington DC and New York killing thousands of people in the worst terror attack inside the United States.
“Nepal condemns the dastardly terrorist acts anywhere in the world as inhuman,” the resolutions said. The House of Representatives and the National Assembly approved the resolutions presented by Vice Chairman Mrs. Chandralehka Yadav and Dr. Mohommad Moshni in the lower and upper chambers of parliament.
National parties represented in parliament also issued statements condemning the attacks. The resolutions expressed condolences for the dead and speedy recovery of the injured.
Earlier, an emergency meeting of the cabinet decided to beef up security at embassies, airports and industries and put security forces on high alert, an announcement said.
“All governments anywhere in the world should condemn all forms of terrorism. The international community should not harbour terrorists,” Deuba told the two houses of parliament in a strong statement. All Nepalis is New York are safe, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Charge de’ affairs of the Royal Nepali Embassy in Washington Dinesh Bhattarai told Nepal Television no Nepali casualties have been reported so far.
The Human Rights Organization of Nepal (HURON) and other bodies have condemned the attacks in statements.
