Kathmandu, May 28: Member of the National Assembly Rishi Babu Pariyar, speaking at a discussions programme on “The condition of the oppressed class during the ten years following the restoration of democracy and the future course of action” organised by Nepal Oppressed Services Association, claimed that there was still no democracy in the true sense and pointed out the need for the formation of a high level commission to look into various issues such as education, health, occupation, etc. for the upliftment of the class.
National Assembly member Lal Bahadur Bishwakarma suggested that instead of laying emphasis on designing bills, existing laws should be activated and the government should think of reservation for the oppressed class.
Dr. Balkrishna Saha of the National Vitamin ‘A’ Programme, Kamala Hemchuri of the association, MP Bijul Bishwakarma, president of the Nepal Downtrodden Association Man Bahadur Bishwa-karma and central member of Society for the Liberation of Downtrodden Castes of Nepal Hasta Bahadur Bishwakarma also expressed their views at the programme chaired by president of Oppressed Services Association Moti Lal Nepali.
