A report released by rights group has revealed that the Maoists had tortured a youth, Kumar Pariyar, to death at Handikhola of Shreebhanjyang, Kerabari.

A report released by the Human Rights Treaty Monitoring Coordination Committee (HRTMCC) said that Pariyar had died of physical torture inflicted on him by the Maoist cadres.

The report has also criticised the Maoists’ district leaders for failing to stop the torture though it was already revealed that the Maoist cadres were carrying it out in the name of investigation.

Maoists had claimed that Pariyar, captured by Maoists on charge of theft, had died after falling from the cliff.

The report says Pariyar had not died after falling off from cliff but was beaten to death when he landed at the banks of the Hadi River.
