Issuing a press statement Wednesday, Pahadi said he remained absent during recent meetings and a public function presided over by CMDP chairman Dr Devendra Raj Pandey as there were differences within the leadership pertaining to the “commitments and values” of the Movement.
He mentioned that peace, human rights, basic freedom and democratic republic have been the core principles of the Citizens Movement, but didn’t pinpoint what exactly the differences were. Pahadi said he would not be part of the Pandey-led CMDP if things didn’t change.
“However, as a human rights activist, I am still active for non-violence, human rights, basic freedom and democratic republic and I will continue to be involved in various programmes,” Pahadi said.
Pahadi is one of the founding leaders of the CMDP, which was formed in July 2005.
The CMDP, which is represented by a bevy of renowned civil society personalities, was in the forefront of the Janandolan-II as well as the post-Janandolan pressure campaigns.
