Kathmandu, August 15: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament started probe into the encroachment of public land by police in the heart of Kathmandu.
PAC summoned Home Secretary Padma Prasad Pokhrel and inquired about case involving Nepal Police illegally using public land in Naxal for the purpose of petrol pump.
Police have opened a petrol pump for the commercial purpose encroaching the public land adjoining Police Headquarters in Naxal.
Home Secretary Pokhrel informed the lawmakers in the PAC meeting Monday that he had no information about that.
Officials say police used the public land without informing the concerned government agencies. Lawmakers, lawyers and others claim that the use of public land by police for commercial purpose was illegal.
