The Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) issued an order to the government and Ministry of Defence not to buy the Super Puma helicopter for the Royal Nepal Army.

The meeting of the Public Accounts Committee Monday concluded since the Royal Nepal Army already has two Super Puma helicopters which are in operation, it is not necessary to buy another one of the same type and nature.

The meeting also found some discrepancies in the prices quoted in the tender and quotation for the purchase of the helicopter, the Public Accounts Committee chairman Subash Nembang said.

The Royal Nepal Army had decided to buy the Super Puma with the government also having agreed to buy it for the army. However, an official at the Ministry of Finance said the Ministry was not

in position to allocate money for the purchase of Super Puma helicopter from the regular budget.

If the new helicopter is to be bought, the Ministry will have to transfer the amount from the development budget.
