Over two-dozen Maoists surrender, five arrested

At least 29 Maoist cadres surrendered before the district administrations of Humla and Dailekh, mid-western Nepal, on Wednesday.

According to state-owned Radio Nepal, central leader of the Dalit Liberation Front, Mel Bahadur alias Prebeg is among the 25 Maoists who surrendered before the District Security Committee under the district administration this afternoon.

Likewise, four Maoists surrendered before the district administration in Dailekh today. Radio Nepal said Maoist brigade commander Yam Bahadur Bista was among those surrendering.

Separately, four Maoists have been arrested in the last two days in far-western Bajura and Achham districts.

Security forces arrested three Maoists – identified as Lochan Rawal alias Lokesh, Govind BK and Ashok Bhandari – who were involved in extortion and abduction in Kalagaon area of Achham on Tuesday.

In the same manner, a district leader of the Dalit Front named Chandra Sunar ‘Nirajan’ was arrested by the security forces on Monday, reports quoting the Far-western Pritana (division headquarters) of the Royal Nepalese Army said.
