Even as the Maoists have claimed that they don’t have anybody in their captivity, status of more than a dozen persons abducted by them on different dates in the mid-western region remains unknown.
Kantipur daily Tuesday said quoting the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) that whereabouts of least two army soldiers and a number of civilians abducted by the rebels still remain unclear.
INSEC officials said at a press meet in Gulariya in Bardiya district that the Maoists had abducted Santosh Kumar Choudhary, a 17-year-old student of Yubak Secondary School, from Jogigaon in Bardiya in January 2005, and Niraj Yadav in December 2004 from Gulariya Municipality.
Likewise, Rambabu Regmi of Kalika VDC, Amrit Khatri and his wife Birmi of Jamuni VDC, Bhim Bahadur BK of Syangja district, who was abducted from Gulariya, and two army men, Krishna Prasad Adhikari and his brother Dharmendra, were among those kidnapped by the Maoists some one year ago whose condition has not been revealed yet.
Kantipur quoted INSEC that Maoist ‘district people’s government’ chief Bishnu Prasad Choudhary said the state of the abducted people would be revealed soon but he gave no dates for the disclosure of their status.
