Over 50 Dalit people were arrested from Prime Minsiters Official residence in Baluwatar while they were planning to hand over a memorandum to the PM Girija Prasad Koirala Wednesday morning.

The Dalits were organizing candle rally while heading to submit the memorandum to the Prime Minister.

Those arrested Dalits are detained at Armed Police Force Academy at Maharajgunj.

The joint Dalit Struggle Committee was planning to submit a memorandum to PM demanding action against upper-caste people who had beaten-up Dalits in Doti after Home Minister refused to receive their memorandum on Tuesday.

At least 50 people were injured when a group of ‘upper caste’ people attacked Dalits when the latter tried to enter into a temple in Silgadhi, the district headquarter of Doti, Sunday afternoon.

The Dalits have been demanding for forming a high-level committee to probe the Doti incident, take action against the culprits immediately, providing compensation and treatment facilities to the injured people, immediately implement the historic proclamation of the parliament and provide security to Dalits.
