The year before, only 38.72 percent of the examinees had passed in the SLC examinations.
According to the result published by the Office of Controller of Examinations (OCE) late Wednesday, a total of 104,654 students passed out of 225,032 students who appeared in the SLC exams. Nearly 42,000 students passed in the first division, over 53,700 in the second division and nearly 5,000 in the third division.
Interestingly, the OCE did not stick to the tradition of publishing board toppers this year. “We decided to scrap it since the publishing of the names of board toppers was promoting unhealthy competition,” said Gajendra Lal Pradhan, Controller of the Examinations. He did not elaborate.
This year the SLC results were delayed by nearly three weeks due to the ‘jana andolan’ and burning of SLC copies during Maoist attacks in southern district of Kapilvastu, according to officials.
