At least 44 people were injured in separate road traffic accidents in various parts of the country.
According to reports, some two dozen people were injured when a passenger bus on its way towards Megauli of Chitwan district from the capital, Kathmandu, hit a truck near Mahadevbensi of Dhading district on Prithvi highway on Saturday. The bus was carrying Maoist cadres who were returning after taking part in Friday’s massive mass meeting organized by the rebels in the capital.
Injured personnel were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, according to police.
In a separate incident, 16 people were injured, nine of them seriously, when a microbus overturned on the road at Chailahi VDC-1 of Deukhuri valley in the mid-western district of Dang on Saturday. The bus was on its way to Dang from Bijuwar of neighbouring Pyuthan district carrying members of a marriage procession.
In yet another incident, four persons were injured when a trick they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into the Trishuli river at Dahakhani of Mugling-Narayangarh section of the Prithvi highway on Saturday.
